Choc Chip Lactation Cookies

Last week was international breast feeding week.

I am a big breast feeding advocate and I say if you are lucky enough to be able to breast feed, then get those babies out whenever and wherever you little one needs it.

I was lucky enough to be able to feed my first girl till she was just over 2 years of age and am currently feeding my youngest who is almost 7 months. It's not like I am lacking in milk, but I thought I would give lactation cookies a go. Couldn't hurt right?

Do I think they increased my milk? Maybe. But probably not.

These cookies were delicious anyway. And don't worry if you're not breastfeeding, these cookies won't make you produce milk or anything wierd liek that.

Choc Chip Lactation Cookies

Ingredients in these cookies that make better milk

  • Fats and Oils High fat foods like grass fed butter and coconut oil will increase the quality of your breast milk and help your baby put on good weight.

  • Almonds Full of vitamin E and Omega 3 as well as essential fatty acids and proteins, almonds contain the building blocks of seratonin, the happy hormone, which is essential in breastfeeding.

  • Oats Saponins present in oats will affect your pituitary gland and increase the hormones that make milk production occur.

  • Brewers Yeast Contains phytoestrogens, protein, B vitamins and iron, brewers yeast gives you and your baby energy. It's these compounds that gives credit to those old wives tales about beer increasing milk supply and let down.

  • Sesame Seeds High in calcium, these seeds help milk supply as well as the mineral content of your milk.
