Episode 9 of The F Words: Difficult conversations with Dr Leandra Brady-Walker is #Fanatic: Never be Satisfied: confessions of a hyperstriver with Talya Rabinovitz.
I met Talya while she and I were both speaking at Wellness Woman 2016. She totally rocked the panel on work/life blend with her honesty about her struggles with anxiety and depression and her experience working with people suffering from addiction. What really caught my attention was a term she has coined - Hyper-striving. It was like this woman had read the book of my life. Talya is reluctant to call hyperstriving an addiction, but in essence, it is an addiction to success. A hyperstriver is someone who is never happy or content with their achievements.
I felt like I was catching up with an old friend during this conversation. Talya is free with her knowledge and has some great strategies for dealing with hyperstriving.

"Pull a hyperstriver out of their work environment and place them on a dessert island and they will be the best castaway ever"
"If my sense of worth is coming from what I am doing, then I will never arrive at a place of self love"
One Small Step:
Tell people. Tell your closest friends and those you feel safe with, that you are a hyperstriver. We hyperstrivers travel in packs so you will probably find their are lots around you. That way you can form your own support group to help nourish yourselves.
And your super power would be....
That I could just touch people and they could see the truth of themselves.
